Telecoms and broadband communications provider Pipex has put itself up for sale for £300m with BSkyB one of many companies being touted for a possible takeover bid.

Pipex deal with fixed-line telecoms, broadband and web hosting.

BSkyB, Carphone Warehouse, BT and Orange are among buyers expected to compete for the business, which has more than 570,000 residential and small business broadband customers.
