Sky's Anytime service hits 1m movie download

Sky Anytime 1m downloadsBSkyB's broadband video download service, Sky Anytime on PC, has reached 1m movie downloads one year after the service went live.

The service, formerly Sky by Broadband, offers Sky customers on-demand access to Sky Movies, Sky One entertainment and documentary series and all the best action from Sky Sports, to watch on their PC or laptop whenever they want.

The one-year anniversary was on 14th January and the film 'Flight Plan' was the one millionth movie download.

The service is celebrating its first anniversary with more than a quarter of a million registered users.

This year will see an expansion of the content available on the Anytime on PC, to incorporate more movies, entertainment series, sport and content from Sky channel partners.

"We're delighted that customers have taken to Anytime with such enthusiasm," comments Dawn Airey, BSkyB's Managing Director of Channels and Services. "Sky Movies is the UK's most popular movie service and we're able to use broadband to give customers more flexibility in how they watch. The fact that in this first year we've already seen one million movie downloads is testament to customers' willingness to embrace new technologies and get more from Sky. We look forward to developing our on-demand products yet further this coming year in line with our multi-platform roadmap."
