Ofcom revokes licence of Look4Love 2

TV channel Look4Love 2's licence has been revoked by media regulator Ofcom following numerous "very serious breaches" of its programme code.

Earlier this month, the licence of sister channel Look4Love was also revoked. Both channels were operated by Television Concepts, which went into liquidation on 12th January.

The regulator said it normally sought to revoke any broadcasting licence if the operator went into liquidation.

Ofcom added that when Television Concepts went into liquidation it was considering further financial sanctions against the company over Look4Love 2's code breaches, on top of the £175,000 fine already issued against Look4Love.

Look4Love 2 was an unencrypted service broadcasting adult content in the adult section of the Sky Digital electronic programme guide.

"It featured women in various states of undress using sexual actions and promoting a premium rate adult chat line. It broadcast extremely explicit sexual imagery and language," Ofcom said.

Last year Ofcom had warned all broadcasters that were promoting premium adult chat lines of its "serious concerns". In particular, Ofcom was concerned about the degree of sexual content and the separation of advertising from programme content. This notice explained that Ofcom could, following due process, sanction broadcasters who seriously breached the Code, and that the sanctions available include imposing financial penalties as well as revocation of licences.
