Sky Sports News to move on EPG

Sky Sports News will be moving on SkySky Sports News will be moving to its new EPG number on Sky from next Monday.

On Monday 31st July 2006, Sky Sports News will move from its current Sky Digital channel 408 to channel 405.

This only affects viewers of Sky Sports News on Sky digital. If you watch Sky Sports News via cable, Freeview or other satellite providers, we will still be in the same place.

Launched in August 1998, Sky Sports News was the UK’s first news channel devoted to sport. It was also the country’s first made-for-digital TV channel.

Andy Cairns, Sky Sports News Executive Producer says: "Sky Sports News was the first channel to satisfy the growing appetite for sports news. Every day brings its own stories, every hour brings another twist. There’s always a buzz around the newsroom which we hope is conveyed on-screen to the viewer.

"Over the last five years the channel has developed and matured, and we’ve kept the energy and passion that kept us going in the early days when people questioned whether there’d be enough sports news to fill one bulletin, yet alone a 24-hour channel.

"Now we’re regularly the first with breaking news, instant reaction, interviews with all the top names and all the top stories. We know we’re broadcasting to a knowledgeable audience and the feedback we receive is terrific."
