BSkyB has revealed that the total number of orders for Sky HD has reached 90,000.
Sky HD is Sky's high definition service which promises better picture and better sound.
The total number of homes installed up until 30th June 2006 was 38,000, and after some initial delays, Sky currently expects to install all 90,000 orders by September 2006.
2006 sales forecasts for HD Ready sets have also increased to 2.73 million from 1.4 million (source: GFK) at the end of 2006. Forty six percent of all TV sales over 26" in February 2006 were HD Ready (compared to 3.4% in February 2005).
Sky HD has 10 dedicated high definition channels: Sky One HD, Sky Sports HD, two Sky Box Office HD channels, two Sky Movies HD channels, Artsworld HD, National Geographic HD, Discovery HD and the BBC run a free to air channel BBC HD on Sky channel 145.
