As Sky Digi Online reported in previous weeks and now been confirmed - the ITV News Channel is set to close down in January.
According to MediaGuardian executives and staff are being told at a meeting today about the channel's closure.
Doubts about its future were cast when its hours on Freeview were halved two months ago to make way for ITV's new children's channel, which is due to launch in February.
Reports have suggested 25 jobs would be lost, although an ITV are unable to confirm any details.
The money saved by closing the channel will be reinvested in news on ITV1. Additional bulletins will also commence on ITV2 and ITV3.
The closure of the ITV News Channel now leaves the market open for rivals BBC News 24 and Sky News.
