The Sikh Channel launches 'roadshow' debate

The UK's only Sikh TV service, The Sikh Channel is launching a new debate show this week, which will see the programme visit eight cities across the UK.

This roadshow debate programme called 'Panth Time' will include a panel from each area; from the worlds of politics, academia and religion, who will respond to questions posed by members of the public.

The show will be filmed in local temples and we will be urging Sikhs who attend temple services, local universities, schools and local businesses to be part of the audience.

The first series will be set in Leicester.

an extremly bad idea since most sikhs dont know much about sikh history or are not articulate enough to express their ideas in a non contraversial productive way.

this series can only be sucessful if supervised by somone with an interest in stimulating peoples interest in sikh ethics history and heritage.
unfortunatley sikh elders who speak little english and who only rely on 1-2 sources of information are not equiped to do this.

I agree with Lee.

It can at times come across as being a retroactive and introspective channel, with very little exploration of liberal Sikhism as is practiced by the vast majority of Sikhs in the UK.

It's a bit like a Church of England Channel being run by the BNP - extremely right wing, and not welcoming of left-field viewpoints.
