EXCLUSIVE: Colors joins VIEWASIA package

Colors joins VIEWASIA bundleIndia's leading Hindi entertainment channel, Colors, will join VIEWASIA when it launches in the UK in the coming weeks, BizAsia.co.uk can exclusively confirm.

The much fought over channel by various parties will be distributed by Multi Screen Media UK (Sony Entertainment Television Asia) as a part of its VIEWASIA bundle.

Colors will become the eighth channel in the VIEWASIA pack, alongside flagship service, Sony Entertainment Television Asia, B4U Movies, Sahara One, Aaj Tak, ARY Digital, MAX and SAB TV. VIEWASIA remains Europe's biggest bundle of premium Asian TV channels.

Today, VIEWASIA channels have begun airing teaser promos about Colors "coming soon" to the UK.

BizAsia.co.uk exclusively broke the news about VIEWASIA being favourite to bag the UK/Europe distribution contract back in July last year. However, in the past few weeks, ZEE Network's name came in the race who for a short time looked favourites to add Colors to its four channels network.

It is not yet known whether VIEWASIA's pricing will be hiked after Colors is added to the bundle. Pricing and launch information is being kept under wraps. BizAsia.co.uk attempted to contact VIEWASIA about today's news but was still awaiting a response at the time of filing this article.

Earlier this week, BizAsia.co.uk exclusively reported that Colors had begun EPG data testing on 9XM's old label, off the Sky Digital EPG. Audio and visual tests are likely to begin in the coming days.

For viewers who wish to view the EPG data tests of Colors, follow the steps below to tune into the old 9XM channel label:

-> Using your Sky Digi remote, go to Services Menu
-> System Setup (4)
-> Add Channels (4)
-> Enter frequency: 11.427 (V), FEC: 2/3, SR: 27500
-> Find Channels and Press SELECT
-> Highlight "9XM" service and press Yellow button.
-> Return to Services Menu
-> Other Channels (6) on STB / (8) on Sky+
-> "9XM" should be listed and available

I just wanted to congratulate this website for bringing us the latest information on the UK Asian media. You have been pivotal in my media work and wish you the best for 2010.

Last year you broke some amazing stories and now you have done it again with Colors - well done. I am happy that Colors is joining View Asia.

I don't think it matters whether Colors joins View Asia or not. I can get 11 channels for £10 on Virgin Media. Why would anyone pay the exorbitant price of £18 (plus the connection fee) for 2nd rate channels (sony, sab tv) when i can watch 2nd rate shows for free (ndtv, venus etc).

Star, which let's face it - has historically been the market leader - is still the best offer in the market by a country mile...why would anyone buy a Nissan Micra when you can easily pick-up a Ferrari for the same price!

All View Asia needs now are the GEO channels.
If they get them - I will definately subscribe.

Colors is just around the corner thats very exciting news but the EPG number 829 on sky is very unlucky when DD was in there, he has a very short life, then we have the same EPG 9xm, he has a short life too. i hope its not going to happen to colours. good luck Colors? and
congratulate to bizasia for breaking news thank u to all.

My family and myself are subscribed to the SKY platform for all the STAR TV channels only for £19 plus many other SKY channels since 5 years! We really wanted Colors to launch on SKY and available as part of the 'Style & Culture' pack together with the other STAR channels.

Unfortunately, this didn't happen. We would ofcourse not be willing to pay an additional £18 just for Colors in the ViewAsia package, although we love it a lot!

I would therefore request the party concerned to please launch Colors free on SKY or as part of the Culture mix on SKY too.

Also, when is Colors launching in Mauritius? Raj please if possible contact Colors regarding this...

Thanks

when is it going to launch in the UK though, i really want to watch the shows on it so i've been watching the EPG tests but i'm missing other shows like maniben.com on sab tv, i haven't subscribed so i'm watching them on freeview, which is only on for a few hours, but anyway if it does come on quickly on sky, then i can record colors tv and the shows, i could record maniben but it won't let me for some strange reason but anyway does anyone know when it's gonna launch in the UK ?

Shame everything goes to sky. Though I'm happy with the virgin media asian package for £10 a month it would of been nice to have colors added to it.
