BBC Asian Network's 'Children In Need' special

BBC Asian Network and Pudsey Bear have teamed up to host a free Bhangra and Bollywood Party for BBC 'Children Need' in Birmingham.

The star studded line up was announced today on Adil Ray’s breakfast show and includes legendary Bhangra artist Malkit Singh performing exclusive tracks from his new album with special collaborations. Rising star Jaz Dhami and Johnny Kalsi with the legendary Dhol foundation will also perform live at this joint collaboration between Asian Network and the BBC in the Midlands.

BBC Asian Network’s Tommy Sandhu and Murtz Ali will host the main stage, with BBC WM’s Joanne Malin and BBC Asian Network’s Adil Ray , not forgetting Pudsey Bear, keeping us across the action on TV.

Tommy Sandhu says, "It’s going to be a massive musical extravaganza. We’ve got an amazing line up and we’re going to lift the roof off with our band of dohl drummers."

Children In Need is all about getting children heard and what better way to do it than to make a whole lot of noise from here in the Midlands which will resonate across the UK."

Spectators can try their hand at dhol drumming, take part in a Bollywood dance workshop and have their photos taken in the Asian Network Bollywood photo booth, in return for a donation to Children in Need.

The event will broadcast live at various times during the BBC One’s networked show presented by Sir Terry Wogan.

Last year, thanks to the amazing generosity of the British public, a record breaking £37.8m was raised. This is currently being used to significantly enhance the lives of thousands of disadvantaged youngsters across the UK.

The free event takes place on Friday 20th November at Birmingham's Millennium Point from 18:00. Tickets are available from today.
