Rumour: Colors to join View Asia pack in UK?

India's leading Hindi entertainment channel, Colors, is likely to join the newest Asian TV package, View Asia, when it launches later this year, according to industry speculation.

The channel owned by Viacom 18, has proved a major hit since it launched in India a year ago. Colors has been eyeing a UK launch since late last year and has been in negotiations with various broadcasters to secure a distribution deal.

Sources close to BizAsia.co.uk have said that whilst discussions have been going on with numerous parties, Multi Screen Media UK (Sony Entertainment Television) is looking as the favourite to bag the hugely popular channel. If successful, Colors will join its recently launched View Asia package, which currently boasts as being the "biggest ever TV package". View Asia consists of Sony Entertainment Television Asia, B4U Movies, Aaj Tak, Sahara One, SAB TV, ARY Digital and MAX.

View Asia, formerly known as MAX Mix, will be officially be available to the public from Monday 3rd August.

Incidentally, Multi Screen Media has a similar distribution deal with Colors in India. The channel is available on the network's One Alliance package, amongst 19 other channels.

When contacted Multi Screen Media for comment on this story, we did not receive a reply in time of filing this article.
