India ratings: SAB surges ahead of STAR One

Multi Screen Media's SAB TV has surged past STAR One in the second tier of general entertainment channels.

Whilst Colors, STAR Plus and ZEE TV continue to compete for the numero uno slot in the first tier of entertainment channels, the race for the next position is on.

As per TAM data, comedy channel SAB has pocketed 66 GRPs for the week ended 13th June. This is 16 GRPs more from its previous week's tally, providing the base for it to be ahead of its rival STAR One. SAB's peak GRPs came at a time when STAR One shed 8 GRPs to finish with 52 GRPs.

SAB owes its recent success mainly down to the new additions 'Maniben.com', which opened with 0.9 TVR, becoming the second most popular show on the channel after 'Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah', which notched up a TVR of 1.75. Incidentally Smriti Irani who stars in 'Mainiben.com' was the producer/actress who pushed STAR Plus to the top spot with 'Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'.

STAR One's top shows on the channel remained 'Miley Jab Hum Tum' and 'Dil Mil Gayeh', garnering a TVR of 1.23 and 0.76 respectively. The channel's latest addition, 'Hans Baliyeh', clocked a peak TVR of 0.42 for the week ended 13th June.
