Ekta show to replace 'Dulhann' on ZEE TV

'Dulhann' finally axed, to be replaced with Balaji showZEE TV's troubled show 'Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann' is finally being axed later this month, BizAsia.co.uk can confirm.

The show, which was earlier saved from the chop, has experienced problems recently with lead actor Sharad Malhotra expressing his desire to leave, then actress Kamya Punjabi falling ill. Furthermore the show's TRPs have fallen drastically since it’s hey day a few months ago.

Lead actress Divyanka Tripathi who plays Divya in 'Dulhann', confirmed to BizAsia.co.uk that the show was indeed coming to an end this month.

With this decision, Sharad has also reportedly opted to stay until the end of the series. A happy ending is in the offing for show fans.

Incidentally, channel officials planned to axe 'Dulhann' over Ekta Kapoor's 'Kasamh Se' earlier this year but decided to do without the latter. Now it seems Ekta can get her sweet revenge with her new show being the favourite to replace 'Dulhann'.

Ekta Kapoor's next production has been confirmed as 'Pavitra Rishtha', a remake of a Tamil serial, 'Thirumathi Selvam'.

According to India-Forums, 'Pavitra Rishtha' will have the basic flavour of Mumbai and the story will focus on a middle to lower middle class Mahrashtrian family.

"The protagonist is a well-cultured, less-educated girl Archana who is past her marriageable age. Savitha Prabhune and Ajay Rohia essay the role of her parents. While the mother prays that her daughter gets a well-educated boy in her life, her father is more of the practical type. Archana has a brother, bhabhi and two younger sisters, of which one is working and the other is in college. The show will also have Swati Anand who was earlier seen in Kasamh Se. She will essay the role of Archana's Bhabhi and her character will be grey," reports the website.

'Pavitra Rishtha' is expected to launch on ZEE TV India on Monday 25th May replacing 'Dulhann'.

In the UK, 'Dulhann' ends on ZEE TV UK later this month and 'Pavitra Rishtha' launches in June.
