London's "hit music station" Club Asia is set to launch on DAB digital radio in the coming weeks and cease broadcasting on Sky Digital. The station confirmed the plans via its website today. The release said, "Since its launch in 2003 Club Asia Radio has firmly established itself within the hearts and minds of its listeners. More than a radio station, it is recognised as a popular lifestyle brand that attracts fans from across the globe."
The station also confirmed that it will be ceasing its broadcast on Sky Digital later this month due to a slow growth in audience via the TV. Furthermore, Club Asia will be increasing investment online and branching out this summer with enhanced user services which will allow its community of listeners to connect with the station and each other.
Club Asia is currently available on AM in Greater London on 963 and 972AM, plus Sky Digital and online.
Says company Director Sumerah Ahmad, "We recognise that the way in which audiences access their entertainment and information has radically shifted and its important for us to be one step ahead of the game. We are genuinely excited about the changes as it brings increased business opportunities and interactivity with our listeners. We are currently in discussions with a number of DAB platform providers, watch this space for a launch date."
It is not yet known which areas Club Asia will be broadcast digitally and when the service will be launching. Keep it with BizAsia.co.uk for more.
UPDATE on 08/05/09: Club Asia was taken off the Sky Digital EPG 0145 today around 11:30.

Well, I was shocked to see that Club Asia has dissapeared from Sky!
I will miss it very much, as I live in Oldham and they don't brodcast here. I hope that the DAB comes out soon and I don't have to keep on missing my favorite radio station.

Yeah, it doesn't sound too good Henna. Hope nothing happens to my Club Asia, because its not the same without it being in my life.
Wish I lived in London, at least that way, I wouldn't miss it so much. But Oldham is too far from London.
I hope that the DAB comes out soon and I don't have to keep on missing my favorite radio station.
Please can everyone pray for Club Asia's future.

Good bit of research there from Mohsin Shazad! Particularly, when he writes, 'in a lengthy conversation; and a very cheerful & helpful Desi girl; (who is my friend now) explained'> Desi hmm? lol!
Hope it works out sha! ;)
On a serious note, hope Club Asia comes back soon because I am facing the same problem here in Rochdale, as the sister in Oldham n Moss in Leeds.
Club Asia is totally cool and I used to listen in most evenings for the drivetime show. Miss it very much, as the BBC Asian network isn't the same & doesn't quite cut it for me.
Can't imagine it closing down, hope Moss is right!
