Punjjabi TV release show details

Punjjabi TV announces launch detailsPunjjabi TV has released programming information ahead of its official launch on Sky Digital, next week.

The channel, which is being launched by World Media Connect, will broadcast free-to-air. Its schedule consists of up to twelve hours per day of original content.

Punjjabi TV's primetime will be drama-heavy with 'Chadhya Chann Samundron Paar' starting at 18:30, followed by 'Dil Diya Gallan Dil Hee Jaane', then 'Raano' at 19:30. 'Agg De Kalirrey' will air at 20:00, followed by 'Chandigarh Campus' at 20:30. A daily laugh-out riot show called 'Punjabi Classic Comedies', which will feature memorable funny clips from Punjabi films and shows. Another drama 'Eh Mera Punjab' will occupy the 21:30 band during the week.

A 90-minute playlisted music show will takeover the 22:00 - 23:30 weekday slot featuring Bhangra and Folk Punjabi tracks.

Punjabi News will air four times per day - 08:00, 12:30, 18:00 and 23:30.

Religious Sikh shows will broadcast daily between 06:00 - 08:00. A mythological programme called 'Jai Mata Di' will occupy the early morning 05:00 slot.

The channel will broadcast new and old Punjabi movies at the weekend at 13:00.

Up until now, ZEE Punjabi had a hold in the UK Punjabi market. This week saw the launch of The Sikh Channel, which will concentrate on purely religious shows. Punjjabi TV will be the closest competitor to ZEE Punjabi.

Punjjabi TV launches on Monday 20th April in the UK and US. In the UK, the channel will broadcast on Sky Digital EPG 838.
