ZEE Network's music channel, ZEE Muzic, will be undergoing a major revamp in India and will be rebranded Zing from April.

Zing will showcase more than just music, it is being repositioned as a Hindi lifestyle service, along the lines of popular Indian showbiz channel Zoom TV.

Zing will not carry the trademark 'ZEE' before its channel name. According to AFaqs website, an industry insider said: "The new branding minus the word 'ZEE' is an attempt by the channel to have an identity of its own. At same time, the alphabet 'Z' resonates with the mother brand, ZEE network. The new logo is in sync with the positioning of the channel, and is short and simple."

Our sources also suggest that Zing will feature music, movies, humour, animation, spoof shows and celebrity lifestyle including gossip and the latest trends.

Initially, the new identity will be shown on the channel every 20 minutes. The channel plans to accustom the viewers by adopting the new look gradually in two months.

The new look will be unveiled later this week in India with changes expected to be rolled out in the UK in weeks to come. ZEE Muzic UK recently overhauled its programming by adding more Bollywood playlisted shows, plus local content.
