Colors takes number 2 slot from ZEE TV

Its done what other new entrants have struggled to do! After less than three months on-air, Viacom 18's entertainment channel Colors has taken the number two slot from old favourite ZEE TV, in India!

According to TAM data for the week ending 4th October (C&S, 4+, HSM), Colors has come up trumps with 250 points, whilst ZEE TV had to settle with a distant 220 points. Even STAR Plus, the market leader since 2000, has had a knock-on effect from the new competitor. Its ratings have dropped from 298 to 278 points for the same week.

For the second continuous week, Colors’ flagship show 'Balika Vadhu' stands as the top-rated show in the GEC turf with 6.77 TVR. STAR Plus' Bidaai is the second most-watched show, garnering a TVR of 6.22.

In the Top 10 of shows for that week, STAR Plus and ZEE TV settled with four programmes each and Colors had two. 'Jai Shri Krishna' is also doing well for Colors, it raked in a rating of 4.19.

Sony Entertainment Television Asia settled at number four. Its show 'Indian Idol' continues its good run. STAR Plus' sister channel STAR One is at fifth spot with 100 GRPs (gained 27 GRPs). NDTV Imagine follows with 78 GRPs while Sahara One is seventh with 69 GRPs. 9X takes the eighth spot with 58 GRPs while SAB has 33 GRPs.
