Colors show rated India's new number one

Viacom 18's Hindi entertainment channel Colors is jumping leaps and bounds each week in the highly competitive Indian TV market.

After consolidating its position as the number three channel in India, Colors is now hot on the heels of taking over the number two slot from ZEE TV.

In the latest TAM data, Colors and ZEE TV are neck and neck in the war for eyeballs. Both channels have registered 236 points for TAM data for Week 39 (20th -27th September), HSM market, 4+, cable and satellite homes.

Further good news for Colors, 'Balika Vadhu' has been rated as India's new number one show pulling in a TVR of 6.76 on 26th September and beating STAR Plus' 'Bidayi', which could only manage a 6.57 TVR. 'Balika Vadhu' has only been on the air for three months. Meanwhile, 'Jai Shri Krishna' of Colors is on third place with 4.74 TVR.

Colors' 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena', which clocked a TVR of 2.98 on its opening day (26th September), slumped to 1.66 TVR the following day.

Among the other shows, 'Bigg Boss 2' has averaged a TVR of 2.6 with a peek of 3.48. 'Bandhan Saat Janamon Kaa' and 'Jeevan Saathi Hamsafar Zindagi Ke' have also managed peak of 1.74 and 1.3 TVR respectively.

Overall, STAR Plus dominates the pack with 298 points, Colors and ZEE TV with 236, followed by Sony Entertainment Television Asia losing 16 GRPs, with 111 GRPs in the current week. NDTV Imagine clocked 84 GRPs, STAR One got 73 followed by Sahara One at 65 GRPs and 9X at 59 GRPs.
