Virgin Media to offer Bollywood on demand

Virgin Media launches Bollywood on demand serviceVirgin Media has announced an agreement with Saavn, the world's largest digital distributor of South Asian content, to make Bollywood films available on demand.

From July, Virgin Media's Bollywood launch line-up will include Taare Zameen Par, Life In a… Metro, starring Shilpa Shetty, and the hugely popular, Race, one of the best performing Bollywood films ever, taking over £350,000 at the UK Box Office on its opening weekend in March this year.

Available as a dedicated section on Virgin Media's on demand service, Bollywood enables viewers to choose from 30 hit film titles, to watch when they want, with further titles refreshed and added each month. Bollywood joins around 4600 hours of on demand content, including over 500 films, currently available from Virgin Media.

Malcolm Wall, CEO of Content at Virgin Media, said: "Our agreement with Saavn brings one of the largest digital catalogues of Bollywood films to a UK TV platform for the first time. Virgin Media is always looking to bring new content to our customers and we're delighted to be making a fantastic line-up of Bollywood films available as we continue to develop our compelling TV on demand line-up."

Vinodh V. Bhat, General Manager, Saavn, said: "We are excited to work with Virgin Media to bring the best of Bollywood entertainment to UK consumers. Bollywood is the world’s largest entertainment industry – 4 billion tickets are sold to its films each year – and now, thanks to Virgin Media, people will be able to enjoy top Bollywood entertainment on demand, right on their televisions."

Virgin Media customers can access the service by pressing Home and going to More on Demand. Film prices start at £2.
