STAR UK gets mainstream media exposure

Exposure for STAR in mainstream press

Popular Asian network STAR TV, has come to the attention of the mainstream media, for its pioneering programming that has led to the channel gaining one of the biggest audiences of Asian viewers and households across several generations through the UK and Europe.

A feature printed in The Independent newspaper on 23rd June 2008, highlighted the channel's success in drawing a broad cross-section of Asian viewers and audiences away from mainstream television channels, and securing its position as the number one Asian entertainment channel, popular for its remakes of cult mainstream TV shows such as 'X-Factor', 'Strictly Come Dancing' and the recently launched version of 'Are You Smarter Than A Ten-Year Old' - 'Paanchvi Pass' - hosted by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation and headed by James Murdoch, STAR TV, which now reaches an estimated 300 million viewers across 53 different countries, has spearheaded the media drive to meet the expectancies of Asian households across the UK and Europe, where mainstream channels have continued to overlook and neglect their interests.

In an interview conducted by Independent journalist, Jerome Taylor, Patrick Corr, Vice President, Distribution & Sales, STAR TV Europe, quoted, "We're confident that we're reaching more eyeballs and homes than any of our competitors and that is backed up by our research."
