New to BizAsia.co.uk is our weekly column Biz Bitch. We'll be scouting around for silly blunders in UK Asian TV, radio and press and bringing them to you.
We're watching and listening closer than ever to keep certain organisations on their tod! If you spot anything out of place, the time is here now to name and shame...The Biz Bitch!
What do you do when a radio station doesn't believe in having the 'right person for the right job'? It can potentially result in a massacred Saturday evening...
The otherwise perky Maya Mistry filled in for the vivaciously entertaining Suzi Mann on Saturday night on Sunrise Radio - the show she was covering for was the immensely popular 'Bollywood Top 20'. The result? Uh...well...not quite top!
This flagship weekend show, among the most popular programmes going on UK radio, took a steep dive, as Maya admitted at the very outset that she wasn't the right person covering for the show. None of the welcome 'chugli', sauciness and cheekiness in the previous editions of the 'Bollywood Top 20' - hysterical pronounciation, stuttering, stammering, and one song after another (all randomly compiled by two presenters) in quick succession - so quick that nearly half the chart was wrapped in the first hour (of a 3-hour show).
There was more talk of weather and cricket on a Bollywood show than Bollywood - tracks from dated duds like 'Sunday' and 'Tashan' made a smashing comeback (for no particular reason) - the new tracks and albums went down and the old ones shot up!
Please! Get Suzi Mann back! The original one.
Do you know of any ridiculous goof-ups? If so, let the Biz Bitch investigate. Tell us the time and date of broadcast or publication and leave the rest to us! Email: bitch@media247.co.uk.
