Aastha TV drops encryption; turns free

Aastha TV reverts back to free-to-air statusIndian religious and spiritual channel Aastha TV has confirmed to BizAsia.co.uk that it has switched off its encryption to become a free service in UK and Europe.

Aastha TV launched in 2005 and has garnered an encouraging response from viewers, mainly down to its exclusive deal with Swami Ramdev.

Swami Ramdev was paralytic with knee problems, slip-disc and a bulging stomach before he practiced Yoga. Not only did he revive his own health through Yoga - the ancient art and science of purification and strengthening of the body, mind and soul.

Aastha TV has exclusively broadcasted Swami Ramdev’s Indian Yoga workshops since 2003 via two dedicated slots in over 160 countries on the global Aastha TV networks.

In a response to today's news a spokesman told BizAsia.co.uk the following: "At the moment Aastha TV free plans are permanent but you never know permanence in a dynamic business like this. Maybe after two years we could revisit pay options."

Aastha TV is available on Sky Digital channel 808.
