Sonia Deol will no longer host the breakfast show on the BBC Asian Network, it has been confirmed by the corporation.

In a statement released by the station it said: "Sonia and the station are exploring different opportunities with the Asian Network and we will let you know about these once they are agreed. She is also involved in other TV projects and has recently presented The Big Questions on BBC One."

Sonia Deol has been hosting the breakfast show since April 2006.

The statement continued: "Jas Rao will continue to present the breakfast show for the next six months and a decision on a permanent replacement will be decided once the new Controller is in place."

When contacted by BizAsia.co.uk last week, a spokesperson for the station denied Sonia Deol had left.
