Sony Entertainment Television Asia's first mega Balaji Telefilms soap in months 'Khwaish' launches this coming Monday (16th July).
The soap, which launched last month as Balaji Telefilm's first offering for Pakistan will be telecast in India and the UK on Sony TV.
A family drama, 'Khwaish' is the tale of a young girl named Afreen, who belongs to a middle class family. Being the eldest daughter of the family, responsibilities fall directly on her shoulders when her elder brother settles separately and her father is forced to retire. With great composure, she copes with these new challenges in her life, but not without worrying about her own future.
'Khwaish' has been shot and produced entirely in the UAE. It comprises a cross border mix of well-known stars and newcomers. Priya Ashok Bathija plays the lead protagonist 'Afreen', while Syed Yasir Shah, a new talent cast from Pakistan, is Azaan. Anju Mahendru, Indraneel Bhattacharya, and Sumeet Sachdav lend their talents in vital roles, along with Mohammad Behzaad Khan, Ekta Sharma, Aradhana Uppal, Avinash Vijaykumar Sachdev, Zarin Roshan and Anwar Khan.
'Khwaish' will replace the other Balaji soap 'Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai' in the primetime 19:30 slot (repeated at 14:30). It will air Monday through to Thursday.
It was only reported last week that Sony TV will be showing three new Ekta Kapoor soaps (from Balaji Telefilms) when the current run of 'Indian Idol' ends in September. 'Khwaish' looks as if this will be a part of the three-series deal.
