'Jas The Man' to join Nihal on BBC Asian Network

Jas joins BBC Asian NetworkAs revealed exclusively first on BizAsia.co.uk, we can now confirm Jas Rao, also known as 'Jas the Man' from Club Asia will join the Asian Network on Monday 13th August.

Jas has built his name in commercial radio over the past 4 years most recently hosting the Breakfast Show on Club Asia. Jas's musical signature is Bollywood music, remixed with dance.

Initially Jas will be deputising on 'Nihal's Phone In show' and will bring his wit and cheeky sense of humour to the 'Love Bollywood' show on occasion too. On his love of Bollywood Jas says, "A lot of people find it odd because I'm Punjabi - and I love Bollywood, but I'm a bit of a romantic!"

Jas said of his move, "I am absolutely excited and positive about my move to the BBC Asian Network. This step will no doubt push my career in radio further and help to provide me with more skills, challenges and experiences in the future. The BBC Asian Network has a lot to offer me and I believe I can add a new edge, energy and dimension to the Network, I just can't wait to get stuck in!"

"After four years at Club Asia radio, i'm really looking forward to making a mark at the BBC Asian Network. This is the next chapter in my career and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to add my unique style and experience to what is already a hugely successful station"

Jas is the second DJ to defect from Club Asia in a matter of months. Recently Noreen Khan joined the BBC station to front the Saturday 'Network Chart Show'.

In another change at the Asian Network, Panjabi Hit Squad will be launching their new weekly slot on Saturday evenings between 17:00 and 20:00 from 4th August.

Meanwhile, Club Asia's Drivetime presenter Missy D has been confirmed as the new voice of the station's Breakfast show - starting Monday 6th August. A question mark hangs over as to who will takeover from Missy on Drive. As always, keep it with BizAsia.co.uk - your first stop for all the very latest UK Asian media news.
