In another scoop for BizAsia.co.uk, we can exclusively reveal that Leicester based MATV has plans to launch a bouquet of Punjabi TV channels in the coming weeks.
Sources close to MATV have confirmed that one of the four channels will be a Sikh religious offing. This will be followed by Punjabi channels in other fields, including a general entertainment channel, a 24-hour music channel and a news service.
Insiders at the channel are keeping tightlipped about the bouquet plans but are set to make a formal announcement next week.
The channels are expected to join the Sky Digital platform "within weeks", with the first expected to launch next month. The channel is adamant to keep the channels free-to-air.
Rival, Channel Punjab has already responded to today's news by scrapping its encryption plans "until further notice".
MATV recently underwent a programming revamp with shows from religious service Sanskar TV India dominating the daytime output on the channel.
MATV broadcasts on terrestrial channel six in the Leicester region and nationally via Sky Digital.
As always, keep it with BizAsia.co.uk for the utmost latest.
