Changes at top management at STAR India?

Changes at STAR India?Top management of STAR TV India are all on their way out, or so it is learnt.

According to BizAsia.co.uk sources in India, major exits are likely to happen and the gossip is that one or more may move to the forthcoming entertainment channel of NDTV. The other buzz is that Turner (a good pay-master) is also lapping up several STAR defectors.

Since the beginning of the year, rumours of STAR Group’s CEO, Peter Mukerjea, putting in his papers have got stronger everyday with no action coming from the STAR house to support this.

On the other hand, according to media reports, STAR Entertainment is expecting a change in its top management with STAR Hong Kong’s Sanjay Das coming to India as COO.

However, STAR Entertainment CEO, Sameer Nair, has categorically said that there was no truth in the reports of Das joining the India operations.

It is learnt that the endeavours to bring Das to India has been on since mid-2006 when STAR India’s CFO, G Subramaniam, decided to move on from the organisation. Correspondingly, Das’ role in India too would have been of a CFO.

Whether Das comes to India and what his role would be is another question mark given the difference between market speculations and STAR’s statements.

Let's see what repercussions, if any, this has on the channel and its overseas offices in the UK, US and UAE.
