B4U Movies secures three big Bachchan movies

Guru only on B4U MoviesIn a surprise move, B4U Movies, which has been quiet in acquiring exclusive movie deals for a while, has purchased three major Bachchan movies for its channel.

B4U Movies will be screening three blockbuster movies exclusively. 'Umrao Jaan' starring Abhishek Bachchan, 'Guru' starring Abhishek Bachchan and the yet to be released 'Nishabd' will all get their exclusive television premieres on the Bollywood movie channel.

This development, however, is another boost for the broadcaster after the declaration by an independent research for the second consecutive year that sister channel B4U Music is the number one* channel in the UK.

The acquiring of rights for movies such as 'Guru' and 'Umrao Jaan' has even more significance as the leading pair in both movies – Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai got engaged last week and are scheduled to tie the knot sometime next month.

'Nishabd 'draws on Vladmir Nakabov's novel 'Lolita' about a 60-year-old man's romance with an 18-year-old girl and stars Amitabh Bachchan and the Jiah Khan, who grew up in London.

"We are absolutely delighted to have acquired exclusive rights for these three movies featuring the biggest names in the industry. It's almost like a Bachchan movie festival. We are grateful to our loyal viewers and they can expect more exciting news like this from us in the coming months" said B4U Network CEO Sunil Rohra.

The news today will no doubt have had surprised rival broadcasters ZEE Cinema, MAX and STAR Gold, as all have been bullish to acquire big movie properties for their own channels. With these movies now been picked up by B4U Movies, other broadcasters will surely announce their new movie acquisitions in days to come, keep it with BizAsia.co.uk for more updates.

*B4U Music is the most viewed Asian channel with 709,000 South Asian viewers. - According to the Continental Research - '2006 survey, commissioned by ZMTV Ltd'.
