STAR One & STAR Gold launch on Sky Digital

STAR TV has strengthened its presence in the UK market by launching two more of its channels - STAR One and STAR Gold on Sky Digital.

The two new channels join the existing STAR services - STAR Plus and STAR News. With STAR One, the network hopes to tap into an audience yet undiscovered by rival broadcasters. STAR One will primarily be targeted to a younger audience and skewed towards a male demographic. However, it will continue to air soaps, which have surged flagship channel STAR Plus' popularity worldwide.

STAR One's schedule also consists of reality shows such as 'Nach Baliye' and 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge'. There are also sitcoms and dramas like 'Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka' and 'Betiyaan Apni Yaa… Paraya Dhan'.

STAR Gold is the network's movies channel broadcasting a range of latest and classic films round the clock. The channel has its hands on some of the biggest blockbusters around such as 'Rang De Basanti', 'Bluffmaster', 'Chup Chup Ke' and 'Don'.

STAR One is available on EPG 829 and STAR Gold is available on EPG 830. Both channels are available as part of Sky Digital's monthly package along with the other two STAR channels.

Both channels are available through the Sky Family package but it remains to be seen how another Asian movies and entertainment channel will affect rival broadcasters such as ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema, Sony Entertainment Television Asia and MAX. Will it be able to dent subscriber numbers of rival channels? Keep it with us for more.
