India cricket TV rights winner in mid-February

At last, the ruling faction within the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India can breathe easy, headed by its president Sharad Pawar, the BCCI has firstly resolved the stand-off with all the contenders and assured its committee will purely conduct the bidding of TV rights.

BCCI made a whopping Rs 610 crore by selling logo space on players apparel and is getting ready for the big kill, TV rights. BCCI has already drafted the TV rights tenders.

BCCI has invited issue of tenders for three separate bids. The tenders will be available for five days starting this Monday. The three tenders are for the appointment of Television Production Company, Advertising Sales Agency and the Acquisition of Media Rights. The tender submission dates are Feb 7 for Television Production Company, Feb 9 for Sales Agency, and Feb 15 for Media Rights.

As already reported by Televisionpoint.com, BCCI has fixed a threshold price of $350 million for four years for the composite media rights bid. BCCI vice president Lalit Kumar Modi said that the process of awarding media rights is likely to be completed by February 10.

"After the tenders are floated, we are going to first open the production bid and it will be followed by bids for the global, Indian and international packages," said a BCCI official.
