Asian broadcasters switch to London blasts story

Asian channels switch to breaking newsAsian TV broadcasters have followed mainstream channels by bringing live coverage of this morning's huge blasts, which rocked parts of London.

The incident took place this morning shortly before 9am. ZEE TV broke away from its feature film at around 12:20pm to bring live news from its ZEE News India channel. ZEE News Reporters from the UK have been speaking directly to the newscasters in India for up to the minute news.

Similarly, MATV National has been simulating coverage from Sky News. PTV Prime and new channel DM Digital have been running news tickers across the bottom of its normal programming. News channels South Asia World and STAR News have been relying on CNBC and Sky News respectively. Geo TV has been bringing live news from the scene with the help of its reporters from all around the capital. Al Jazeera too has been bringing blanket coverage on the attacks.

Schedules update (19:00):

ZEE TV: Removed daytime shows with live coverage from ZEE News India. Normal transmission continued at 15:00.

STAR News: Blanket coverage continues.

South Asia World: Continuous news updates every hour and reports throughout normal programming.

Geo TV: Normal programmes resumed at 16:00. News updates continue throughout the evening.

AL Jazeera: Blanket coverage continues.

MATV National: Normal programmes resumed at 15:00.

PTV Prime: News updates every hour from PTV News in Pakistan.

Channel "S": Normal shows continue with news tickers scrolling along the bottom of the screen.

DM Digital: Normal shows continue with news tickers scrolling along the bottom of the screen.

BBC Asian Network: Blanket coverage continues with Drive now being replaced with news specials presented by Nasser Hanif and Rozina Sini. At 19:30 a special Hindi/Urdu news special will be presented by Sanjay Sharma.

Sunrise Radio: Normal programmes continue with extended news dips on a regular basis. Sunrise Radio have confirmed to Biz Asia that its three-day Asian Lifestyle Exhibition show (starting tomorrow) will still be going ahead despite the bombings.

Club Asia: Normal programmes continue with news updates every 15/20 minutes.
